The company began life as three individuals who had a shared curiosity about the world. Our work is first and foremost for us. Getting lost is a lengthy process which we go through with each project. Only when we feel we have learnt the right way to articulate a subject will we begin to craft a piece for an audience.
Our work to date has been newly devised and has established a distinctive visual style, with each project establishing a new textual and physical language. The three founding members of the company are the base notes to an ever evolving chord that looks to find new sounds, voices and opinions to reflect the curious round around us. Collaboration sits and the heart of our process in which we work with a host of brilliant performers, musicians, designers, thinkers, writers and artists all who helped us bring our initial curiosity alive.
In 2015 the company began a new programme called Generate that look to develop the skills of young artists throughout Yorkshire. Each project sees the production of a new work and provides artistic support and mentorship to all involved, developing not only the participants but also the work Manic Chord produces.
